GSO Test

Your Application Journey

We’re committed to a fair process, free from bias, and we want to help you show your best. Here’s what to expect, from applying to starting training in September.

How long does it take?

We usually aim to move from application to interview within about a week, and you’ll normally hear the outcome of your interview within 24 to 48 hours. If you’re offered a place, the pre-training checks then take place before you start in September.

Your application journey. Step 1: Apply. Submit your application online. Step 2: We review your application. We check your qualifications and suitability for teaching. We may contact you if we need a little more information. Step 3: Complete your pre-interview tasks. If invited to interview: literacy and numeracy assessments, a subject knowledge task and a self-declaration form. You will also send us digital copies of your ID and qualifications. Step 4: Your video interview. Online by video. Includes a lesson observation activity and formal interview questions. Step 5: Your outcome. We may ask you to complete one extra activity before deciding. If we offer you a place, it is a conditional offer, subject to the checks in step 6. Step 6: Pre-training checks. Original ID and qualifications, Enhanced DBS check, Safeguarding checks, Occupational health check. All must be completed before training begins. Step 7: Start your training in September. Welcome to teaching!
